- Account Freezing: Law enforcement and financial intelligence units (like PPATK) actively collaborate with banks to freeze bank accounts and websites affiliated with illegal online gambling.
3. Financial Crime and Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
- AML/CFT Risk: The gambling industry, especially illegal online gambling, is considered a high-risk sector for money laundering and financing of terrorism (AML/CFT).
- Fraud: The misuse of QRIS can expose both the provider and the user to fraud risks, as criminals can easily create or fake QRIS codes for illegal purposes, though this risk relates to general misuse, not just gambling.
In summary, any platform offering QRIS as a deposit method for online slots is operating illegally, and both the operator and the player face significant legal and financial risk.
